‘The Lake Limo’ is a family business that is just starting out. Greg and I have been living in Lake Macquarie for the last 8 years. I am originally a teacher and have taught at various primary schools in the Newcastle area, I have also lectured at The University of Newcastle. Before living here in the Hunter I was Director of a childcare centre in Sydney, while studying to get my business management qualification.
“So how did we start with a boat business?” You ask.
Greg and I have 2 young children and lead the regular busy life. We enjoy the outdoors, boating, swimming and generally living here in Lake Macquarie. We love all that the area has to offer. Originally we are both from the country (Bathurst and Dubbo) and we did not grow up with the benefits that this beachside/lakeside life has to offer our lucky children.
On a very rare night out (without the kids) in early 2010, we were enjoying the lakeside music of a Friday night at Warners Bay. We discussed how good it would be to have a luxury vessel of our own, to be relaxing on and enjoying the music. We then came up with an idea for a business that would benefit the area. We decided to create a luxury boating experience for busy people like us. People that might only want to take a boat out a few times a year. We wanted to create an experience that was worry free, for people to enjoy the experience of going out on the lake without the hassle and/or expense of up keeping, cleaning and storing their own boat.
Now after almost a year of plotting and planning, that one idea has brought us to this. My teaching career has been put on hold
and ‘The Lake Limo’ has arrived. We have had help from many friends and family and would like to mention a few by name. Photos are by Simon Hodgson
